Dr. Andrew Lindstedt, retired Superintendent Andrew “Drew” Lindstedt, 72, passed away on June 5th, surrounded by his loving family at Morristown Medical Center. Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22nd from 2-4 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. Military Honors will be present. In lieu of flowers, his family requests memorial donations be made to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Ave, Madison, NJ 07940. To send a message of condolence, please go to www.normandean.com Drew was born in Roxbury to the late Andrew and Alice Lindstedt. His sister Gail Bartels lives in Colorado. Drew graduated from Paul Smith’s College with a degree in Forestry He served in the Military for four years after which he was awarded a football scholarship to Montana State University. He graduated with a degree in Education. He began his career as an educator, teaching Health and Physical Education in the Randolph Township Schools while continuing his own schooling, earning a Masters in both Physical Education and Reading. He began working for the Chester Board of Education as a Reading Specialist while going to school at night to earn a Doctorate in Administration. His main focus was at risk children, and he had a passion for making a difference in the lives of every one of his students. After many years as a Principal, he was named Superintendent of Chester Township Public Schools, a position which he loved. After his retirement in 1995, Dr. Lindstedt took many interim positions with Wharton, Long Hill, South Orange, / Maplewood, including Columbia High School, to name a few. He was a great outdoorsman and an avid runner. When he wasn’t in the classroom or in his office, he spent many years coaching and refereeing soccer games in Jefferson Township and the surrounding areas. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time at his camp in the Adirondacks, hiking, fishing and hunting with his friends. He was an accomplished carpenter and builder as well. Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years Carole (nee Bree) his sons Blake (Melissa) and Ryan (Christina); his three grandsons Cole, Tyler, and Teagan; and many other loving relatives, colleagues and friends.
