Obituary of Farnham E. Vanderhoof

Farnham E. Vanderhoof, 88, died on Tuesday April 7, 2009 at St. Clares Hospital in Denville, NJ He was born in the Mt. Tabor section of Parsippany, but grew up in Denville where he has lived all of his life. Farnham received a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Rider College in Lawrenceville, NJ. He joined the US Army in 1942 and served during WWII as a Staff Sergeant. After the war he worked as a Registered Municipal Accountant and became a partner in John W. Wehman and Company in Morristown, NJ until his retirement in 1977. He later became the Tax Collector for the Town of Sparta where he worked until retiring in 1988. As a youth he was a Boy Scout in Troop 17 in Denville and after the war he returned and became its Scout Master in 1948. He had also been a life member of the Indian Lake Community Club, and a past member of the New Jersey Municipal Accountants Association where he also served as a past president. He was predeceased by his firstborn son, Farnham William Vanderhoof. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Florence L. Vanderhoof and his sons and their wives Frederick E. and Janice Vanderhoof and Edwin J. and Deborah Vanderhoof all of Denville .He is also survived by his five grandchildren Jennifer Krogstad, Timothy Vanderhoof, Wendy Young, Stephanie Vanderhoof and Edwin James Vanderhoof, as well as his great grandchildren Jonathan, Jessica, Kiersten, Charles, and Joshua. He is also survived by his sister Muriel Hopler and his sister in-law Dorothy Coates, both of Denville. Memorial services will be held on Saturday April 18, 2009.
