John G. Ankner passed away on Friday August 2, at his residence in Greenpond, he was 75. Born in Brooklyn, he grew up in Morristown before moving to Greenpond 35 years ago. He was an accountant at Picatinny Arsenal before retiring 10 years ago. Earlier, he worked as a public school teacher in Rockaway Twp., Scotch Plains, Berkely Heights, West Milford, and Butler, NJ. He served Navy during WWII, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Morristown, St. Simon the Apostle Church in Greenpond, and was a Cub Scout Master in Rockaway Township. He earned a Bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University, and a Master's from Kean College. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Rosemary, six children, John F., Michael, Mary Sue, Tom, Karen, and Sarah. Two Daughters in law, Judy and Jackie; Two Grandchildren, Amy, and Michael; a sister, Mary Quagliato, and 11 nieces & nephews. John will be missed for his generous spirit, goofy sense of humor and healthy disregard for what other people think.
