Obituary of Daniel T. Powell

Daniel Thomas Powell, 41, of Summerville, SC, a Seminarian with the Diocese of Charleston who was serving his Pastoral Year at St. Theresa The Little Flower Catholic Church in Summerville, entered into eternal rest on Monday August 14, 2006. Mr. Powell was born in Denville, NJ. He was a graduate of Marietta College and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1987. Daniel moved to Spartanburg, SC in the 1990s where he was employed as a civil engineering company as a project estimator. Daniel felt a calling from God and entered St. Vincent DePauls Catholic Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, FL. He was in his third year of theological studies and successfully completed his Pastoral year as a seminarian at St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church in Summerville, SC. Daniel was dearly loved and respected by all of the parishioners. His parents Joseph F. Sr. and Marie Powell predeceased Daniel. Three brothers, John P. of East Hanover, Joseph F. Powell Jr. and his wife Cathie of Landing, William J. Powell and his wife Terry of Ardsley, PA, three sisters, Patricia A. Powell of Mine Hill, Jennifer M. Christal and her husband Mark of Denville, Eileen M. Katsaros and her husband Johnlee of Marlton survive Daniel. He also survived by three nieces and four nephews and two uncles, Michael and Al Helmsteader. The funeral from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ www.normandean.com on Tuesday August 22nd at 9:00a.m. For a 10:00 a.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial service at St. Marys Church Denville, NJ. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Friends will be received on Monday August 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Theresa the Little Flower Church Building Fund.
