Joseph J. Swanton passed away at his residence in Rockaway, NJ on February 11, 2006. He was 83 years old.
Born in Chelsea, VT he had lived in Denville for 47 years before moving to Rockaway 15 years ago.
Joseph served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII.
He was self-employed, owning and operating Meriden Mason Supplies in Rockaway for 35 years before retiring in 1973.
Joseph had been a golfer for 60 years and was a lifetime member of the Peace Pipe Country Club. He was also an active member of the Rockaway Senior Citizens.
He is pre deceased by his wife the late Etta V. (Wilson) who passed away in 1987.
His children Joseph J. Jr. of Oviedo, FL, Nancy Ferrone of Budd Lake, NJ, Steven R. of Bangor, PA, and Terry Tierney of Mansfield, NJ survive him. Also surviving are 11 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ www.normandean.com on Wednesday Feb. 15, at 10AM. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM. I lieu of flowers donations to: American Heart Association US Highway 1 North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
