Donations are being accepted to the N.J. Firemans Home 565 Lathrop Ave. Boonton, NJ 07005. Rudolph W. Luhrs, 74, died on Wednesday November 30, 2005 at the N. J. Firemans Home in Boonton, NJ. He was born Jan.1, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ, to Rudolph and Martha (Schmidt) Luhrs. He was raised in Nutley, NJ and moved to the Rainbow Lakes Section of Parsippany, in 1953. Rudy graduated from Nutley High School and attended Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts. He was a Designer Draftsman working for various companies, Aircraft Supplies in Nutley, Mikropul of Summit, NJ, GHA / Lockjoint Pipe of Wharton, and Reid Industries of Newton, NJ. He retired from Museum Store Products in 1995. He was a veteran of the N. J. Air National Guard from 1947 to 1956. He was a past member of the Nutley Kiwanis Club. He is a member of the Rainbow Lakes Community Club in Parsippany. Rudy joined the Rainbow Lakes Vol. Fire Company, District #2 in Parsippany in 1955 and has been a life member. He had also served in many capacities as a Lieutenant, Vice President, and President of the department. He was a Life Member of the Parsippany Troy Hills Exempt Firemans Assoc., the NJ State Exempt Relief Assoc. as well as the New Jersey State Firemans Association. He also served as Trustee of Parsippany Relief Assoc. Rudy loved Bowling, Horseshoes, softball, and Golf. He had served as a captain for Rainbow Lakes Team in the Hub Lakes League here in Morris County. He was a gentle man with a big heart and a gentle smile who loved to dance to the Big Band Music. He married his wife Barbara Lee on April 18, 1953, and she survives him, as well as many friends and relatives. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Dec.3, 2005 at 10:00 AM by Pastor Jennifer Cho at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ www.normandean.com . Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Firemans Services will be held on Friday Evening. Donations are being accepted to the N.J.
