Piroska Maria Houlihan
79, Beloved Wife and Mother
Piroska Maria Houlihan (Bizony) died Tuesday, June 7th at Saint Clares Hospital in Denville after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, she was 79.
Mrs. Houlihan was born September 28, 1925 in Baja, Hungary, daughter of the late Josef Bizony and Anna Bizony Urbanyi. Mrs. Houlihan obtained a teacher diploma in Hungary and a B.S. degree in biology from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ
After working several years as a research associate at the Merck Research Institute in Rahway, NJ she devoted herself to raising her children and was an active volunteer at the Mountain Lakes High School Library and in a number of Church organizations at St. Catherine of Siena, Mountain Lakes, NJ
In addition to her parents a daughter Piroska Houlihan, her brother Laszlo Bizony and her stepfather Tibor Urbanyi predeceased her.
She is also survived by her husband of 46 years, William J. Houlihan; her children Peter Houlihan of Sunderland MA, Michael Houlihan and his wife Iris of Hillsborough, NJ, Anna Baglaneas Eves and her husband James Eves of Rockport, MA; her cherished grandchildren Nora Houlihan Gallo, Ryan, Torin and Erin Houlihan, Yianni, Marisa and Dimitri Baglaneas, James and Maggie Eves.
The funeral will be at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com on Saturday June 11th at 9:00 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial service at St. Catherine of Siena Church Mountain Lakes, NJ. Interment at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown, NJ. Friends will be received on Friday June 10th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. I lieu of flowers donations contributions be made to American Cancer Society or similar organizations would be appreciated.
