Obituary of Claire Alice Skavnes

Skavnes, Claire Alice, 60, died on Thursday March 17, 2005 at her home in the Marcella section of Rockaway Twp., NJ. She was born in Rahway, NJ and moved to the Lake Telemark section of Rockaway as a child. She later moved to the Marcella section of the township in 1975. She had graduated from Morris Hills High School in Rockaway in 1963. She and her husband Kjell owned and operated Reinertsen Motors Inc. in Denville since 1973, an automobile agency that was started by her father Gustav Reinertsen in 1948. She was the Secretary treasurer of the corporation. She has been a member of clubs and organization in the Rockaway area like the B.U.L. and Sons of Norway, where she has danced with the B.U.L. Folk Dance group, and had been a Junior Folk Dance Chaperon, she bowled on the Sons of Norway bowling league. She is also a member of the Marcella Community Club. As her children were growing up she had been a Soccer Mom, as well as a Sunday School Teacher at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockaway. Claire loved horses, and riding and competing in horse shows was her passion. She had volunteered with the local 4-H club. Her loving husband Kjell R. with whom she has been married to for 41 years survives her. Her two children Kristian and his wife Catherine E. of Sparta, and her daughter Linda Otto of Wyoming, Mich. She also is survived by her four grandchildren Corbin Otto, Annaka and Marlee Skavnes, and Thomas Bolger, and a sister Louise Pedersen of the Florida Keys. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 23, at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Green Pond Rd. in Rockaway, NJ. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ www.normandean.com.
