Belvidere -- Marit B. Laber, age 62 of Belvidere, died Tuesday (10/26/04) at home.
Mrs. Laber was born in Bergen, Norway, the daughter of the late Nils and the late Karen Abrahamsen Breistein. She came to the USA in 1962 and married William Laber. They lived in Baldwin Harbor, LI, NY from 1973-1991, Mendham, NJ from 1991-2002, and the last years in Belvidere.
She was a Life Insurance and Annuities Salesperson for 25 years, employed by Sons of Norway in Minneapolis, MN with a territory of the Middle Atlantic States.
Mrs. Laber was a member and Past President from 1999-2002 of Nor-Bu Lodge, Hibernia. As a founding member of Skravle Klubben in 1994, Northern NJ the club has continued to meet for 10 years.
She is survived by one daughter: Heidi Laber of Washington, two sons: David Laber of Binghampton, NY and Stephen (Caroline) Laber of Yorktown Heights, NY, three sisters: Aase Breistein of Bergen, Norway, Ellen Sukkestad of Toten, Norway, Kari Breistein of Bergen, Norway, three brothers: Nils Breistein of Bergen, Norway, Ivar Breistein of Bergen, Norway, Arne Breistein of Kristiansand, Norway. Also survived by two grandchildren, Jasmine Laber of Yorktown Heights, NY; and Tor Erik Laber of Washington,; and a stepmother, Solveig Breistein of Bergen, Norway.
Memorial Services will be held Friday at 11:00 am in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Rockaway, with the Rev. John Hansen officiating. Fraternal Services will follow at the Nor-Bu Lodge. Cremation will be private.
