Jim Latham posted a condolence

John,
We grieve because you’ve departed us much too soon. But we also remember and rejoice that you touched our lives as a cherished and loyal friend. Chris and I, as well as the entire Latham family, fondly recall the memories of summers together at Paulinskill Lake: climbing up the great treehouse built by your father Joe, performing together at water ski shows, boating, biking, camping and attending drive in movies near the Big N. As a loyal friend, you naturally became a loyal husband. We don’t understand why you’ve left us so early, but trust in the Lord. We pray for you, your family and look forward to seeing your smile in heaven. God bless!

John,
Watch over us now, as we continue to live without you in this world.
Over fifteen years of spending Monday nights in the fall catching up with each other’s lives instead of watching the game is something I will always remember.
You were not only my Brother-in Law, but also my friend. You will be missed.

My brother what can you say about a man who was raised with three sisters? A lot of patience and perseverance.
I remember when we were kids how my brother yelled at me for knocking down one of two boys in the school playground. I said to him ‘I’m older than you I got to watch out for you.’ He said ‘you’re also a girl, how embarrassing is that?’
When my parents bought a lake house when I was about ten years old it was very difficult for me to make friends. John never made a fuss if I tagged along even with his friends, exploring the woods, finding the sassafras tree, fishing, going down to the lake for a swim and playing games of wolf on those summer nights.
It’s hard to bury your son, brother, nephew, uncle, friend and husband at 44 years of age. But I have comfort in knowing thru the grace of God that he is out of this sometimes-complicated world that we live in and is happy and at peace in heaven.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord.
and let perpetual light shine upon him
May he rest in peace
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed
Through the mercy of God
Rest in peace
Amen
I will always love you John.

It's hard to fit thirty years of friendship into a few lines. Memories of a "64" Ford Falcon that had more bondo than metal. Jamming eight of us into a volkswagon to get back from the shore, and Johnny acting as a human windshield wiper as we drove through Connecticut. Even though he is no longer with us in body his spirit lives on with his friends.

To my beautiful brother, we will miss your smiling face and humorous stories. You will live on in our lives always. I will think of you every time my children smile and laugh because I beleive you are there whispering "good advice" in their ears and watching to keep us all safe. You are now truely an angel. We will miss you very much and love you!! Your loving sister Nancy
