Obituary of John G. “Jack” Smith

Jack G. Smith died Saturday at St. Clares Hospital in Dover. He was 86 years old.
Born in Totowa, he lived in Rockaway, before moving to the Indian Lake section of Denville in 1941.
He built prototypes for Hewlett Packard in Rockaway Township, retiring in 1986 after 25 years.
He served in the Navy during WWII.
He was a member of the Split Rock Amateur Radio Association (West Morris Wireless N2RCT), and a member of the Indian Lake Community Club.
He was affectionately known as the mayor of Lenape Island.
His dear wife, Iola R. (Ayres) Smith died in 1997.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Ann Palmer of Dover, NH, his son Barry Smith of Newton, CT, and his Granddaughters, Denise Lawson, and Carol Ann Smith.
