Obituary of James A. Kirkman III

James A. Kirkman III of Montville, NJ passed away Sunday August 1st at Saint Clares Hospital, Denville, NJ.
He was born in Oakland, CA on January 6, 1942, son of the late Stella Fortmann- Kirkman and James Arthur Kirkman Jr. James Kirkman was a graduate of The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and New York University Law School. He joined Nabisco in 1970 as a general attorney. He became a Senior Attorney in 1973, and an Assistant General Counsel in 1978. He was promoted to Vice President and General Counsel of Nabisco in 1989. In 1990, James Kirkman was named Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Kirkman was declared Executive Vice President in 1998, and retired in 2001, after the sale of Nabisco Food Groups to Phillip Morris.
James was a member of The Lake Valhalla Club of Montville, NJ. He was also a member of the Fathers and Friends of Delbarton School in Morristown, NJ where served on the Give a Boy a Year Financial Aid Committee.
Mr. Kirkman was predeceased by his wife Sharon Morrisey Kirkman and is survived by his partner Barbara Winkler, a daughter Elizabeth Elaine of Austin, TX, two sons, Eric James and Kurt Andrew Kirkman both of Montville, NJ and a sister Gail Hewson of Wilmington, NC.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 14th at 10:00a.m. At St. Marys Abbey, Delbarton School, Morristown, NJ.
