Obituary of Aloysius J Scheidel

Aloysius J. Scheidel, Uncle Al 98, died on Wednesday June 30, 2004 at Franciscan Oaks Health Center in Denville, following a six-month decline. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Brooklyn before moving to St. Francis Health Resort in Denville in 1978, and enjoyed many happy years in residence there. In 2000 he moved to Sarah Frances- Tally-Ho Manor in Boonton and then to Franciscan Oaks Health Center in December 2003. He was a Supervisor for the U. S. Postal Service in Brooklyn, NY for 27 years retiring in 1968. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII, and received the Bronze Star for meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy in the European Theater. Uncle Al was a devoted Roman Catholic, who supported many church-affiliated missions. He belonged to the V.F.W. Post 2519, in Denville, as well as the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapters in Washington, New York and Dover, NJ. He is survived by a nephew Raymond Scheidel of Tamaqua, Pa., a niece of Colorado, a Great Nephew and his wife Kenneth and Janet Schebendach of New Hyde Park, NY. He is also survived by good friends Geri and Ken Abere, of Montville, NJ; Bernice and John Rohrs of White House Station, NJ, as well as many Lake Valhalla friends and other acquaintances who crossed his path during his lifetime and partook of his humor and good cheer. A Liturgy of Christian Burial Service will be held on Wednesday July 7, 2004 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Health Resort Chapel on Pocono Road Denville, NJ. Friends may visit with his family on Tuesday Evening from 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Donations are being accepted in his name to St. Francis Health Resort 122 Diamond Spring Road Denville, NJ 07834.
