Edmund W. Halbig passed away on May 22, 2004 at St. Clares Hospital in Denville. He was 83 years old. Born in Bavaria, Germany, he moved to the United States in 1928 at the age of 7. He had spent the rest of his life in Denville, New Jersey. He had served in the United States Army during WWII. He had worked at the U.S. Postal Service in Dover, New Jersey for 33 years before retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Denville Fire Department Association, the Denville Senior Citizens group, the Denville V.F.W., the Denville American Legion Post #390, and the Dover Elks club. He is pre deceased by his wife Anne who died in 1994, and his brother John who died in 1958. He is survived by his daughter Barbara (& husband Bob) Colantoni of Rockaway, NJ, and his son Edmund J. (& wife Karen) Halbig of Easton, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Stephen (& Jennifer), Marianne, Joseph, and Mark Colantoni, and Christine and Jillian Halbig. A Great Grandson Vincent Colantoni, his brother Ludwig of Sparta, and his sister Marie Dobbins of Morris plains, NJ. Funeral services will start on Wednesday at 9:30AM at the funeral home and go to St. Francis Chapel in Denville for a 10:30AM Liturgy of Christian Burial.
