Michael A. Cervantes, 88, of Denville, NJ, went home to his Creator on Thursday, January 8, 2004. His beloved wife of 66 years Fannie Cervantes of Denville, NJ and niece Ana Cervantes of Guanajuato, Mexico, survive him. Michael was born on July 16, 1915 in Guanajuato, Mexico and moved to the United States at the age of two. He lived most of his life in New York City. He earned his BS from New York University and was employed as Fiscal Administrator of Staten Island University Hospital for 18 years, retiring in 1980. Throughout his life, Michael was dedicated to Church development, serving as Elder, Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent and a member of the Pastor Nominating Committee. He was passionate about issues of social justice especially active in advocating for childrens access to education. He was a member of the Masons. Michael was an avid reader, an inspirational poet and a profound thinker. Memorial services will be held on Friday January 16, 2004 at 10:30AM at Denville Community United Methodist Church 190 Diamond Spring Rd., Denville, NJ.
