Plate, Louis F.,74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21st, with his family by his side. Funeral Arrangements under the direction of Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, February 24th from 2-6 pm. To send a message of condolence, please go to www.normandean.com Born in 1938, to the late William and Lillian, Lou attended Essex County Vocational School. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy, where he proudly served his country. In 1968, he married Joy Straitman, They have lived in Denville since 1972. Lou worked as a pressman for many years with both LP Thebault and The Millburn Press, finally retiring in 1995. He was a proud honorary member of the Denville Fire Department Association for many years. He made friends quickly there and was happy spending time at the firehouse. He enjoyed reading the newspaper daily, and celebrating the holidays. For many years he was an avid gardener, always growing his jersey tomatoes. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife Joy of 44 years; his oldest daughter Jennifer Melendez and her husband Daniel; and youngest daughter Deborah Whitehead; his adoring grandchildren Alison Whitehead, Walter and Ryan Keiper; his brother Alfred Plate; his affectionate pets Melinda and Max; and many other dear relatives and friends.
