Hi sweetheart...well, I can't believe that it has been almost two years...Monday coming to be correct...I miss you more than ever...your three meals and two snacks and our crazy shopping adventures. I sincerely hope that you have peace and a great PC. Dad visits you often. Your fish for the most part are hanging in there...all three tanks. big Red passed this year, but she was huge...Dorey is still queen of the tank by your computer and still comes to be fed every morning, but I guess you know all that. I will love you always my son. Please help BW when you can.
I will cherish all my memories of you...Love, Mom

Garr-Garr(Beaver)- How does a sister say goodbye? Our time in reflection seems too short, yet filled with an abundance of love and memories. You have taken a piece of my heart with you, but know that a piece of you will always be with me. You are the core of our family; you center and pull all of us together like a strong magnet. Nothing will ever change that power. You blessed us with your infectious, mischievous smile and sense of humor. I thank you for being a spirited brother to all of us, a fun and loving uncle and a dear son. Enjoy fishing and being free, until we meet again. We know you will guide and watch over us all, just try not to get into too much trouble in the process.
Forever your sister, - Shell-Bear…

PENNIES. I found a penny today just lying on the ground. But it's not just a penny, This little coin I found. Found pennies come from heacen, That's what my friend told me. He said Angels toss them down. Oh, how I loved my dearest friend.
He said when an Angel misses you, they toss a penny down. Sometimes just to cheer you up, to make a smile out of your frown. So, don't pass by that penny when your feeling blue. It may be a penny from heaven, That an Angel's tossed to you.
An Angel is now watching over you. Still miss you terribly Gad. I would love to hear you sing that special song or just to raspberry me on team speak just once more. My heart hurts everytime I think of you but I know this will pass and all I can do for the time being is know that you were my special friend.

It's been almost two years since i first logged onto the Evil Smurfs servers. I was lost looking for a good server to play on and I saw this Evil Smurfs server. I couldn't help to log onto it and give it a try. After giving it a few runs i knew that it was gonna be a regular server for me to play on. Then i met GaD, Mean Mr. Waffle, Fatty, Alpha Male, and a few other people that made the server fun and enjoyable to play on. After playing with Garrett and getting to know him i quickly fell in love with the guy. I will never forget you Garrett for as long as i live. One of my favorite memories with Garrett was when I was in college and I had come home to visit. Gar, Linds, Brandon and I went to dinner at the Macaroni Grill (MG). MG allows for its guests to write on the paper layed over the tableclothes with crayons. While I was away from the table, the kids wrote "available" and "single" in front of my place setting so that our waiter could hit on me. :) I was totally embarrassed, but we had such a great time.
I will definitely miss Garrett's great sense of humor and his wit.

While I do not know Garrett personally, I gather from all of the kind words I've read that he was a wonderful son, brother and friend -- changing the world despite his illness. I am a friend and co-worker of Shelley Waite and if Garrett's compassion and energy were anything like that of his sister's, this is definitely a huge loss for all.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

It was my honor and privilege to serve under Gads' guidance on his original BOD for ES. We spent hundreds of hours together online on Teamspeak and playing the games. Garrett was an amazing individual; those of us who knew of his afflictions marveled at how he physically could even participate, let alone excel at the games, as he did. But the reason I loved Gad, from the beginning, was his easy-going personality, which endeared him to everyone he met. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of bereavement, and we pray that God will give you his peace, which passes all understanding.

I really do not know what to say. When I got the text from V3nom today i just froze, i did not know what to say or do. I wish i had been more active of late, I wish i could have talked to the man who will always remain an inspiration to me in my life. I never got to meet Garret, but over the last almost 4 years i have been involved in this clan he had become a true friend. His story of overcoming his illness and founding this clan, making so many friends, and touching so many people's lives is something that should never be forgotten, and i know it will always inspire me.
I have not cried for the loss of my great grandfather but the loss of Garret is the loss of one of my close friends. He is a person that should never be forgotten, and it is beyond me to stifle the tears i feel.
To Garret, may he rest in the arms of God and be at peace for his legacy of the people's lives he touched is one that we could only hope to achieve.

I have been thinking long and hard about this past weekend. I will never be able to get over the loss of Garrett. I can honestly say that there will never be another person to touch me the way the Garrett has touched my life. He is a great source of inspiration to me.
Garrett was never defined by his physical limitations. We are all testaments to the fact that Garrett defined himself by his intangible gifts. He had a gift for laughter. He could make anything fun, and anything already fun, he made more fun. He had a gift for love. He loved every single member as if they were close family, from the newest CS members to the oldest ES member, he treated each person with care and respect. He had a gift for perseverance. No matter how many rounds in a row he would lose, he would keep at it, until he figured out a way to win. Even if it was just once. He had a gift of leadership and vision. He made this clan what it is today, a huge international group of friends, who have become like brothers and sisters. He had a gift for life. He made the most of everyday, whether it was fishing, eating cake, playing with Cupcake, or being my bullet sponge on Counter Strike, he made the most of it.
These gifts of his worked to inspire every single one who knew him. It shows in the lives of his friends. May GaD live through us and be forever remembered.

I have been away for near 2 months now, and to come back to this is quite a hard blow. I have thought for a long time that he was of my generation. I had never seen his picture, hung with him in person, or anything like that. You didn't need to know him in the real world to be his friend. He was friend and family to all of ES, CS, and this includes all of the server regulars (including myself). The clan and even the games themselves won't be the same without his guidance, and leadership. He was incredibly intelligent, clever as can be, honest to a fault, and above all else, an honorable man. If you needed something, and he could give it, he did. No questions asked, he was just there. I thank you Garret for all your support, kindness, and the friendship that seemed to grow over night. I will never forget those times when I played in XFG. Gad will be missed by everyone that ever met him, either in real life or online. I will always chuckle when I remeber him calling me noob on TS when I couldnt do anything right. His legacy in ES will continue on and he will be remembered by many clans out there that he has been a part of.

Garrett was one of the nicest folks I've ever had the pleasure to meet online. He never even mentioned his illness, never complained, never sad an unkind word about anyone. I'll always remember his sense of humor and his good nature.

Garrett, you were a true friend. Never in my life have I met someone as nice and strong willed as you. Every once in awhile I wonder what my life would be like if never met you and I know that it would be completely different. From the start, I knew that you were different from everyone else. You were kind, helpful, and a total inspiration. You went from being just some guy I knew to one of my best friends. I'm never going to forget you and every time I do something stupid with my computer I'm hear your voice calling me an idiot. I'm gonna miss you buddy.

I remember getting owned in scrabble by Garrett. He prolifically played counterstrike and managed good scores. Unlike most players, he was 99% strategy and 1% aiming. Despite his illness, he always had a great attitude. He will be missed.

Even tho I live in Louisiana Garrett always made me feel he was right there. He was the coolest most compasionate person I know. He made everyone feel at home and well liked and was great at getting perple together. I will miss his "in yer face boi" comments after he smashed you on Source or TF2. I will miss having conversations with him about nothing. Rest in peace my friend.

Garrett is an enigma.
I say "is", because he'll never leave my thoughts.
Despite his life issues, his outlook was ALWAYS positive. He never let his physical shortcomings define him as a person.
I have never been a religious person, and to this day I don't subscribe to any organized form of religion. But Garrett is one of the people I have met in my life who enables me to believe that we all have a much higher purpose by living out our lives.
I firmly believe that Garrett and I are kindred spirits - with the love of Technology being the medium that allowed us to bind. His departure will leave a space in my existence - a space that won't be filled until I join him myself.

GaD was the most amazing encouraging person I have ever met. Like most people in his situation he never let it get him down and never let it affect him. He was always upbeat so much so that you never knew about his problems unless he told you or someone else did. God Bless both him and his family. Thank you for all the amazing times even when you were kicking my arse.

As I posted in the forums that he started:
There was never a day where Garrett would be sad, angry, depressed, or vengeful. Garrett dedicated much of his last few years making these people who they are today. Like Mom, Garrett has changed me as a person. He has made many days where I was just so out of composure and all he had to do was talk about whatever the current events were and how he was always joking with everyone and it just made my day so much brighter. Garrett lived a wonderful, but what we would consider a difficult life. For Garrett, he made every day the best day and each day following even better. I only knew him for 4 or 5 years, but I have no doubt in my mind he has always been that same person. The thing that inspires me most is that he NEVER let it get him down, and he never put himself before anybody else. He was a modest, friendly, and very smart individual whom I will miss dearly. He will be a person I will remember for the rest of my life.
I remember last summer, I just turned 18 in the late winter and I could drive anywhere I wanted. I drove 5 or 6 hours to New Jersey to meet Garret and many other members. I had such a great time, and it was simply amazing to meet Garret in person. I am so happy that I made that decision to go. I can't think of anything else I would rather be doing.
These are not just games we play that bring us together, it is the people that bring us together. We are a family. Garrett was out fatherly figure. This is his family too.
Garret, wherever you are, from all of us here at the Evil Smurfs and for every Evil Smurf to be-- you will be missed.
Rest In Peace, Garrett Dicks, the friendliest warrior I have ever met.

Garrett,
you were like a brother to me...I have never had as good a freind as I had in you.If it were not for you I would never have joined ]ES[ and gotten the chance to meet you and get to know you.You were,by far, the kindest most unique soul I have ever met.
I alredy miss hearing your voice on teamspeak or at your house while I was beating you in WII bowling.Your infectious laugh always cheered me up when I was down, and you kept me in the clan those few times I was ready to quit. You always made me feel that I was needed in ES and I was very honoured when you asked me to serve on the Board.I will always remember the gatherings at your house...staying up till the wee hours with you and Kevin and Brandon...talking or playing games or watching Grandma's Boy,I will always think of you when I watch that again...you have touched my heart and I will always be on my mind and in my thoughts and prayers.
I love you Garrett
forever your good friend,
Chris
