Obituary of Suzann Lord-Schaefer

Please share a memory of Suzann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Suzann Lord Schaefer, age 65, who peacefully departed on January 17, 2024, at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ.

Suzann was born on September 2, 1959, in Boonton, NJ, to Raymond and Olga Lord. She grew up surrounded by the love and support of her parents alongside her two siblings. Suzann's academic journey led her to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting, which she put to good use in her career at Howard Savings Bank, where she worked for many years.

While Suzann excelled in her professional life, her true passions extended beyond her career. She was an avid seamstress, and her talent for sewing was evident in the countless beautiful projects she created, filling her home with warmth and creativity. In her down time, Suzann delighted in her TV shows, filling her life with mysteries and tall tales.

In 1988, Suzann met Michael Schaefer, the love of her life. Two year later, the couple was married, embarking on a journey together that spanned over 31 years. Their relationship was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Among their favorite times were their trips to the Caribbean, getaways to their house in the Poconos, and attending races at Raceway Park and Pocono Raceway, where they shared Michael's passion for racing. However, it was the quiet, tender moments spent dancing in the living room to their favorite songs, with their beloved cats Boobear and Lulu Belle weaving around their feet, that meant the most to them.

Suzann was a woman of kindness and grace. Her loving spirit touched all who knew her. If you would like to continue Suzann’s memory in your own way, please consider making a charitable contribution to the Parsippany Animal Shelter, where Suzann and Michael found their forever friends. Memorial Donations can be made via inmemof.org.

Though we are sad to see her leave us, we take comfort in knowing that we have another angel in Heaven, where she is reunited with her love, Michael Schaefer, her parents, Raymond Lord and Olga Lord (Dorishook), her brothers-in-law, Richard Wagner and John Kevin Schaefer, and her Mother-in-Law, Helen Schaefer and her husband Gregory. It is now that we look to those she leaves behind to carry on her legacy, her sisters, Mary Lewis (Robert), Cindy Presti, her nieces and nephews, Robert Jr. (Brandie), Catherine (Scott), Suzann, Paul Michael, her beloved in-laws that she found through Michael, Judith Masi (Anthony), Marie Schaefer-Wagner, Gregory Schaefer (Lynn), Michelle Paone (Gary), Alison Rems (Stanley), Richard Schaefer (Anna), their children, Matthew (Anne), Ross (Shanna), Anthony, Randy (Tina), Addeline (Bryan), Gregory, Brian (Teresa), Kevin (Kim), Shauna, Louis (Lesley), as well as many, many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Hours of public visitation for Suzann are scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, from 4 to 6 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services. Please come and help us celebrate the life of this incredible woman, and please take this time to leave a condolence, share a memory, or light a candle to continue to let Suzann's light shine!
