Just got new of this 5 minutes ago, from a fellow alumni to me, out in the Lehigh Valley,PA! Joan, Jeff, Steve, and Lynn, NEVER HAD A COACH, with so much impact on my life! I suffered from a lack of esteem, from my Dad's side of the family, and Coach helped me immeasurably get it back! Used to love sending noted to Coach, "Guess who I RAN INTO", from the Cross Country and Wrestling Days! Gave Cael Sanderson a Heads Up on this also! R.I.P.!

To the entire Vittorio family, my heartfelt condolences. Mr. Vittorio was a very special person who left an incredible impact on me. He always treated everyone with courtesy and respect. He was the type of coach who genuinely cared about his athletes and always wanted them to succeed. His caring ways and his passion for the sport of wrestling left a lasting impression on me. The world needs so many more Gary Vittorios! Thank you for all that you have done for me Mr. V. God bless you and your entire family!

To Joan and Family,
Thank you so much for sharing this Giant of a man with all of us who benefited from his wisdom, warmth and friendship. I loved getting his cards and letters at Christmas and loved remembering him on his birthday and Christmas.
May you be blessed with the knowledge he is now your angel watching over you all.
Peace

Mr. V. was more than a wrestling coach to me; he was a mentor, second father and dear friend. He imbued me with a strong work ethic and taught me how to be a good teammate, leader and follower, or at least he tried to. In short, Mr. V. taught me how to be a good person. I would not be who I am today without him. Every kid deserves to have a Mr. V in their life. Godspeed Mr. V.

My condolences to the family. Gary also was a dedicated member of the Parsippany Rotary Club and served as its President in the mid 1980's. He was an advocate for Rotary's cause "service above self" and exemplified that attitude as a Rotarian as well as an educator.

Uncle Gary was kind and heartfelt. I remember him fondly at our family reunions when we were young. He loved playing the baseball game and other sports with us. My father, Dick Camaione, always spoke highly of Uncle Gary and he was so proud of his accomplishments. My condolences and prayers are with all of you at this time.
Love,
Jackie Wituszynski (Camaione)

Words can’t express how much Gary helped my son Billy Canham . Billy had epilepsy and started wrestling with Gary as the coach. Billy had brain surgery and could no longer wrestle. However Gary made sure that Billy participated in sports as manager and score keeper in wrestling, basketball and Girls Softball teams. Billy was so happy to be able to continue Participation in sports as manager. My wife thanked you so much during those days and proud to have known you. God Bless and prayers to the family

My sincere Condolences to Mr Vittorio’s Family. Mr Vittorio was a fine Man and Educator. Because of role models like him and other fine Parsippany Teachers many of us went on to become Teachers as well. Teaching in NJ I did have many chances to see and visit with him thru the years. He always had nice things to talk about and remembered so many of my Classmates. I was privileged to have him as a teacher and mentor.

I’ve always had fond memories of Gary as our wrestling coach in the 70s. He was tough but fair. He emphasized hard work and dedication. Even though I moved out of state my junior year, his influence and example has also stayed with me. RIP Coach Vittorio.

We feel truly blessed to have known Mr V most of our lives. We learned from him, laughed with him, but most of all, shared memories with him. He lived an incredible life and leaves a more incredible legacy. Some people never experience half the life he lived, and he certainly left the world a better place. May he rest in God’s grace and peace and always watch over his family. Steve & Michele Shaffer
