Linda Marie Zrike, a devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at her home in Denville, NJ, surrounded by her loving family. She was 77 years old.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, on November 28th, 1947, Linda was the daughter of Gilbert and Lorraine Backenroth. Raised in upstate New York, she developed a deep love for nature, family, and the simple joys of life. A dedicated student, Linda graduated from high school and went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Psychology, reflecting her lifelong passion for helping others. Her career at the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation as an Occupational Therapy Counselor was marked by years of service and dedication, and she retired with the respect and admiration of her colleagues and clients alike.

Linda met the love of her life, Richard, and together they built a strong and loving partnership. Their marriage was the foundation of a beautiful family, which includes their two children, Katy and Alec, and a legacy of laughter, love, and shared experiences that will last for generations.

Above all, Linda cherished her role as “Grammy,” a title she wore with pride and joy. Her famous “Grammy Camp” became a treasured tradition for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Each summer, Linda opened her heart and home for a week filled with creativity, adventure, and laughter. From arts and crafts and puppet shows to swimming at the lake, field trips, and movie nights, every day was packed with joy and unforgettable memories. Perhaps the most special part of Grammy Camp was the big dinner Linda would host at the end of the week, bringing families together and celebrating the love that flowed through every corner of her home.

Linda was an extraordinary hostess who took great pleasure in preparing delicious meals and making sure everyone felt welcome. Her love of cooking and entertaining was a reflection of her nurturing nature, and she was always the first to put others at ease with her warmth and generosity. Whether it was a family gathering, a holiday dinner, or a casual get-together, Linda created an atmosphere of love, laughter, and connection. Her home was a gathering place for friends and family, where everyone was treated as part of the family.

Linda was also a passionate traveler. She and Richard spent countless months exploring the country, embarking on road trips that took them across the United States. These adventures fueled her curiosity and love for discovery, and she often returned with stories of new places, cultures, and people they had met along the way.

Beyond her love for her family and travel, Linda was an active and engaged member of her community. She was a proud member of the Denville Women's Club and the Denville Book Club, where she formed lasting friendships and was known for her thoughtful contributions and her infectious spirit. Linda's ability to connect with others and her dedication to making a difference in her community made her a cherished friend to many.

Linda's legacy will be remembered for the love she gave, the memories she created, and the kindness she spread. She taught all who knew her the importance of family, generosity, and the joy of a well-planned celebration. Her laughter, warmth, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
