Obituary of Tracy Scott Egbert

Tracy Scott Egbert, 61, of Rockaway Township, NJ, passed away peacefully at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ, after a courageous and lengthy battle.

Born in Boonton Township, NJ, to Eugene H. and Lois M. (Leacy) Egbert, Tracy spent the majority of his life in Denville before relocating to Rockaway Township nine years ago.

Tracy dedicated 25 years of his career to the Township of Parsippany-Par-Troy Hills Department of Public Works, working in the Water Department until his retirement in 2019. Following his retirement, he worked for McCarter’s Towing, a position he enjoyed and cherished.

A devoted public servant, Tracy was an active member of the Denville Fire Department for 43 years. Over the years, he held numerous positions within the department, including serving as Chief from 2002 to 2003. Tracy was also a proud member of the Exempt Firemen’s Association of New Jersey, the Morris County and New Jersey State Fire Chiefs, and served as a judge for the Harry Dunlop NJ Fire Parade.

Tracy had a deep passion for life, including his love of Harley Davidson motorcycles, trips to Disney, and above all, his family. His legacy is one of service, commitment, and unwavering love for those around him.

Tracy is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Dawn Christine (Santo) Egbert, and their two children, Scott and Jenna Egbert, all of Rockaway Township. He is also survived by his siblings: Richard (Debra) Egbert of Parsippany, James (Tammie) Egbert of Pinellas Park, FL, Donald Egbert of Gulfport, FL, John (Nancy) Egbert of Roxbury, Marie (Tom) Leaming of Waretown, and Lynn (John) Lesko of Oxford, NJ. Tracy was deeply loved by his in-laws, Arthur and Barbara Santo of Rockaway Township, as well as his nieces and nephews: Brian Egbert, Leacy Leaming, Emily Egbert, Jamie Egbert, Tyler Egbert, Shane Leaming, and Jessica (Nick) Petrillo. He also leaves behind his great-nephew, Bentley Wexler, and many close family friends, including Mike and Kristie Taylor.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday morning, December 3, from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. www.normandean.com. Followed by a funeral procession with the Fire Department past Valley View Company #3 and then onto Main St. Company #1 for ceremonial "Last Call"
