I worked for the Pat Shea Agency in the summers and breaks between attending college. These were the 80s when you never knew if a typewriter or a Wang System, Xerox Memorywriter or a Qwix machine would be sitting on the secretary's desk who I was tasked to replace while they were on vacation. I quickly learned to use all these various machines performed my temp duties very well. I was always rewarded with very good pay and another quick assignment. I found this type of business excellent for me stepping in after being in school and I could also take a day off once in a while. Pat Shea was a treasure. Great guidance - always encouraging and a pleasure to be a part of her crew. I fondly remember all the work experiences I had that influenced me as I became older. I never wanted to work for a man who belittled women. I saw and heard plenty of that working at company's temporarily and transcribing their meetings. The snide remarks and disrespect was a bit difficult, but I told The Pat Shea Agency to never put me back in those offices - they can get the lazy temps, not me. I started my own business at 36 and I still have my own business. I was thinking of the group at Pat Shea the other night and remembered how that experience shaped me as a young person. Thank you Pat - may you rest knowing you made a huge impact in many people's lives. Rest in peace.
