Obituary of Louisa Brown

Please share a memory of Louisa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Louisa (DePasquale) Brown, known by her friends and family as Liz, 84, of South Windsor, CT, beloved wife to Dickson Caldwell Brown Jr., passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024 in her home. Daughter of the late Francesco and Carmela Antonina (Musarra) DePasquale, Liz was born in Hoboken, NJ on September 8, 1940. Claiming to have only graduated from Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest (NJ) in 1959 because of her good-  behavior, Liz was an unstoppable woman and a force to be reckoned with.

An incredibly hardworking and devoted wife and mother, Liz gave everything she could to her family. Quiet, reserved and soft-spoken, Liz was also quite sassy and a whole lot of fun. You could not help but to love her. In her earlier years Liz enjoyed western square dancing with her husband Dick and was a charter member of the West Milford Flutterwheels. She also enjoyed bowling and summer vacations with her family. After retiring from Kmart as a cashier, Liz was an active participant of the South Windsor Senior Center CARES group for over 10 years.

Liz is survived by her daughter Christina Brown of South Windsor, her son in law David Martin of Pittsfield, MA and her beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Dickson Caldwell Brown Jr., of South Windsor, her identical twin sister Maria (Marie) Fonde of Hillsdale, NJ, her younger sister Josephine Prudenti of Budd Lake, NJ and her brother Angelo DePasquale of California.

Her family would like to extend a very special thank you to all the amazing staff and volunteers at the South Windsor Senior Center, South Windsor Senior Center CARES Group, North Central Area Agency on Aging and Alzheimer’s Association for everything they did to support Liz and her family. And with an overwhelming sense of gratitude the family would also like to thank all the wonderful women who shared their time, energy and knowledge to help care for Liz, especially during her final days.

Friends will be received on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm and Monday, November 11 from 10am to 12pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. Burial at Stanhope Union Cemetery, Continental Drive, Netcong, NJ to immediately follow. Repast will be at Casa Bella. In lieu of flowers please go out of your way to do something nice for someone else. Memorial donations in Liz’s name may be made to the South Windsor Senior Center CARES Group, 150 Nevers Road, South Windsor, CT 06074.
