Filipina Phyllis De Filippis nee Litterio, 73, died on Friday July 4, 2003 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital in Cape May Courthouse, NJ, after a short illness. She was born and raised in Newark, NJ and moved to Wayne in 1964 where she lived until moving to Ledgewood, NJ in 1987. She worked in the Records Department of the Morris County Clerks office in Morristown, NJ for many years until retiring in 1994. Phyllis always put her family first and was a deeply loyal friend. She used her love of cooking, baking and entertaining to bring both family and friends together. To her adoring sons, Phyllis was seen as a deeply devoted mother that was always there providing guidance, support and an endless source of love. Phyllis daughter-in-laws Patti, Lisa and Julie would describe her as a second mother who willingly shared her best recipes, advice and love. She loved her grandchildren Christopher, Kevin, Garry, Gina, Joey and Will with great enthusiasm. She was playful and fun-loving, giving much energy and love. Her grandchildren would describe her as awesome, funny and the absolute best Grandma ever who gave the greatest hugs. Phyllis was a member of St. Theresas R.C. Church in Succasunna, NJ. She had also been an active member of the Elks Lodge #815 in Florham Park, where she volunteered her time and talents in raising funds for children of special needs. She is survived by her three sons, Ronald of Succasunna, NJ, Joseph of Ringoes, NJ and Garry of Ledgewood, NJ, six grandchildren, a brother Felice Phil Litterio of Waretown, NJ, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday July 9, 2003 at 10:00 for an 11:00 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial Service at St. Marys R.C. Church in Denville, NJ. Friends may visit with the family on Monday Evening 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Donations are being accepted to Children of Special Needs Fund - Elks #815.
