I had the honor of meeting Mr. Kelsch on the set of a television show we were working on in NYC. He was a great man and a great director of photography. After talking to him for a few minutes you knew you were in the presence of someone extraordinary. I respect his service to the industry and to our nation and I am grateful to have met him.

Ken and Dale on the set of The Killer Dead, Ken and Brendan discussing the upcoming shots. We were saddened to learn of Dales passing many years ago. We are heartbroken to learn of Ken's passing, way to young with so much left to do. We are relieved to know they will reunite forever with thier youngest son and other family and friends.
RobinBeth and Brendan Faulkner will forever miss you both.

Ken contributed so much to the New York film scene. Every indie New York filmmaker owes a debt of gratitude to Ken’s legacy. I’m proud to have helped Ken become a member of the ASC. He was so deserving.

Ken was a walking legend...Larger than life itself!...One of those all time great characters who was a pleasure to meet and talk with and work with ... I first met him in a screening room on Sunset Blvd., when he was shooting the Madonna movie with Harvey ... I was running my own agency at the time with my wife, Tracy, and Mary Kane thought Ken and I would be a good fit as DP/Agent, so she had invited me to the dailies ... The Man himself walked in that day, and he knew how to fill a room, and we hit it off right away ... In a world of deceit, the man was truth to his core, and he knew who he was, and he wasn't shy about it!...Ken stories, I've got many good ones, during the time we worked together over the years but, one of the ones that stands out to me the most had to do with his demo reel, that he was using at the time in the 90s, after Dangerous Game ... It's that bit where Madonna tells Harvey "I'm not getting my picture taken by f***ing Richard Avedon, ya know"... Ken liked that moment, thought it was real, and it stayed in his demo reel for quite awhile ... I also think that really reflects the honesty Ken had about his work as a DP, but also the sardonic sense of humor, that's there as well ... I saw that evolution first hand from "Dangerous Game" to his work in "Big Night", and beyond ... I know the man liked dark, but the amazing 'light touch' he brought to Big Night was amazing ... Ken will always be associated with Abel, and they made some awesome dark together, but there's always two sides to every man, and the work with Stanley was just as impressive in a completely different way ... I do think he really ranks as one of the best ever at his craft, and it was a pleasure to represent the man during that period of time ... In the end though, in the world of movie make believe, Ken was one of the real deals, and you always knew where you stood with the man ... RIP Ken!!..Tracy and I knew him for 30 years, and he will be missed…

Ken sat behind me in 8th grade. Every day he would have me in hysterics! Every day he was kicked out of class by sr. Margaret. He didn’t care. He would make obscene gestures through the glass window. We would pass notes and tell jokes and he’d often protect me from the fierce nun. We lost touch in life but a few years ago we met up again. We’d share stories of our families and our lives. Ken was a great man!

Always remember Ken by his sweet grace whenever I encountered him. He was a wonderful cook, which in fact I had the pleasure to indulge in some of his delicious dishes he had prepared. You indeed are and shall be missed by many Ken.
