Obituary of James M. Edwards

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of James M. Edwards, who
reached 84 years of age, and passed away on November 8 th , 2023, at Morristown Medical Center.

James was born in July of 1939 to Harry and Mary Edwards in Moscow, Pennsylvania. He
was raised there alongside his 3 sisters and graduated from Moscow High School. It was at this
school that he met his wife, Nancy, with whom he spent 40 years of marriage. After high school,
James attended Paul Smith College for an Associate’s degree in Hospitality and Hotel
Management. He later went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from
Fairleigh Dickinson University.

After college, James and Nancy settled in Morristown New Jersey where James began a
career as an accountant for the local municipal utility’s authority. In his free time, James
enjoyed taking fishing and duck hunting trips, spending time at his property in Pennsylvania,
and cooking delicious food. All of these were hobbies, but the one thing that James truly loved
to do was ski. He spent many snowy days on Shawnee mountain and even served on the
National Ski Patrol for over 20 years. He taught first aid to the new recruits, and helped on the
mountain rescue team. Over the years, he made many friends and even more memories;
memories that are now priceless to the people who knew him. James will be remembered as a
headstrong, determined man who had an adventurous spirit.

Though we are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace,
reunited with those who passed before him; his wife, Nancy Edwards, his parents, Harry and
Mary Edwards, and his sisters, Carolyn Simmons and Gwendolyn Kozik. It is now that we look to
those he leaves behind to carry on his memory. His survivors include his sister, Marilyn Rhodes,
daughters, Kathryn Sens and her husband Don, Annette Dobleske and her husband Tom, his
grandchildren, Tori Kimel and her husband Micah, Tyler Dobleske, Madelyn Sens, and Charlotte
Sens, as well as a wealth of friends and neighbors that will remember him fondly.

A Memorial visitation for James is scheduled for Saturday, December 9th, from 2 to 4 PM at

Norman Dean Home for Services. All are welcome to come and celebrate the life of this remarkable man!
