Obituary of Florence K. Rosenberg

On September 7th, 2023, Florence K. Rosenberg passed peacefully at home in Ceder Crest, Pompton Plains, NJ, shy of her 98th birthday. Florence was born in the Bronx, NY, on September 19th, 1925, as the only child of Gussie Bernstein and Jack Krinsky.

She attended K-12 through the New York PS school system and graduated from NYU and Columbia University, earning her B.A. and M.S. in Teaching and Art. She also studied at the Art Students League for many years and is a Life member.

Florence started her career as a textile designer and became an art teacher in the NYC PS system and then a long-term art and special education teacher in the Boonton, NJ school system, where she retired in 1985. She was also an avid watercolorist and was a member of the American Artist Professional League, the National Association of Woman Artists, and the New Jersey Watercolor Society, where she served as the President of the Society from 2000 to 2002. She married Max Rosenberg from 1956 until his passing in 1998 and lived in Parsippany, NJ, for over 40 years. She was a loving mother to her sons and their spouses, David and Lilly Rosenberg, Burton and Monique Rosenberg, and Alan Rosenberg and Randi Rosenberg, to her granddaughters, Jaclyn, Mika, Samantha, Eva, and Zelda, and her grandson-in-law Matt Hawzen, spouse of Jaclyn, and their daughter, her great-granddaughter Florence. The matriarch of our extended family, she led the call for family reunions and holiday gatherings. Her family and friends deeply loved her, and she will be dearly missed.

A funeral service for Florence will be held on Monday, September 11th at 10.30 am at the Norman Dean Home for Services at 16 Righter Ave, Denville, NJ, followed by a burial service at the Baron Hirsch Cemetery at 1126 Richmond Ave, Staten Island, NY.
