Obituary of Dale Eloise Lyman

Please share a memory of Dale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Dale Eloise Margus Lyman, a long time Denville resident who passed away on September 2nd, 2023. Dale was a loving wife, mother, aunt, and friend to many.

Dale was born in Newark, New Jersey and was raised in Glacier Hills, Parsippany. She graduated Parsippany High School Class of 1969.

Dale Lyman was a 1973 graduate of Boston University, and a recipient of a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Dale joined the fraternity of perfumers in 1974 as a perfumer’s technician at Lautier Fils and moved later that year to Crompton & Knowles. There, Dale assisted several perfumers in off the shelf submissions, application, and stability work. And began to learn the art of perfumery.

In 1977 Dale joined Florasynth as a perfumer’s technician. Later that year she moved to Lautier Aromatiques. There, Vito Lenaci appointed her an apprentice perfumer, and she participated in his all-exclusive perfumery training program.

Ms. Lyman joined Berje as a perfumer in 1981. In 1985 she moved to Novarome where she worked in quality control for several years. She then returned to Berje in 1988, and continued working there as a perfumer.

She became a full member of the American Society Of Perfumers in 1994.

Dale returned to college, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from William Paterson University. She was employed at Troy Corporation until her retirement in 2018.

While consistently advancing in her career she married the love of her life George in 1982. Soon after came her loving son Cory. Dale found joy in the little things. She enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles and reading about science and nature. Loved being in her garden, but most of all she loved to create art. She had a passion for watercolor painting.

Dales’ memory will live on through her devoted husband George Lyman, her loving son Cory Lyman and his girlfriend Valerie Trnka, her brother Paul, sister-in-law Mary Ann (Mark) Guiles-Lashway, along with nephews Brian Guiles and Jason Margus. Donna Smithers was her lifelong friend. She was predeceased by her parents Ed and Eloise Margus of Glacier Hills, Parsippany.

A Memorial Visitation for Dale will be held on Saturday, September 16th, 2023, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services.
