Obituary of Michael Arthur Miller

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Michael Arthur Miller, a
Rockaway resident who passed away on August 20 th , 2023.
In January of 1942 Michael was born to Ray and Marjorie Miller. He was raised in New
Jersey alongside his three sisters. Michael’s parents raised them with all the love and affection a
parent could have, and Michael and his father had a connection like no other. After graduating
high school, Michael worked for his father’s company for a time, before he left and started a job
as a milkman.
It was around this time that Michael met the love of his life, Bernadette. The pair were
married in 1979 and raised four wonderful children together. Michael inherited his father’s big
heart, and he loved his children so very much. His wife remarks that, “Michael’s joy was his
children.” He continued on to love all of the 8 grandchildren, and even 2 great grandchildren that
he was blessed with.
In his free time, Michael had a passion for all things cars. He had a Cadillac DTS
Platinum that he treated like his baby. He was always cleaning and fixing it, making sure it ran
just right. This car was so dear to him that he wouldn’t even drive it in the rain. This passion for
cars also brought Michael to another hobby; racing. He spent many days at an air strip in
Montague, NY, with friends where they would bring their cars and show off their top speeds. He
enjoyed drag racing anywhere he could find it, and even received the Stock Car Racing
Experience at Pocono Raceway as a gift from Bernadette for his 65 th birthday. Through these
hobbies Michael made lifelong friends that will always remember him dearly.
And though his passing brings us sorrow, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace. We
take this time to remember those who passed before him; is parents, Ray and Marjorie Miller,
and his sisters, Suzie, Cookie, and Kelly Miller. In the future, we will look to those he leaves
behind to carry on his memory of love and compassion. His survivors include his wife,
Bernadette Miller, his children, Denise Cruts (Earl), Celeste Pocher (Michael), Larry Miller
(Eileen), Bonnie Evans, his grandchildren, Laura Di Janni (Jimmy), Amber Roome (Michael),
Caroline Pocher, Beatrice Pocher, Valerie Miller, Arthur Miller, Sarah Evans, Josh Evans, and his
great grandchildren, Kaylee Roome and Jason Di Janni. Please keep these people in your thoughts and prayer during this trying time.
