Obituary of Suzanne B. Nyman
It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Suzanne Nyman, who passed away on August 10th, 2023 in Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Suzanne was born in July of 1964 to Burton and Rosa Horowitz in Denville, New Jersey. After her family made the move to Wharton, she was raised there alongside her brothers, Robert and Daniel, before she made the decision to continue her education. She attended East Carolina University, NC, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree. She then used her education to help others by acting as a paraprofessional in the Mountain Lakes School district for over 23 years. Her last position was as an administrative assistant, but she worked tirelessly for years in pursuit of helping others and providing children with a great education. Her dedication and care for her work is inspiring and will never be forgotten.
Somewhere along the way, Suzanne met the love of her life, Steven Nyman, and the pair created a beautiful family together. They brought 3 wonderful children into this world and raised them in Denville. In her free time, Suzanne enjoyed spending time with her family. Some of their best memories were made while travelling; something that had a very special spot in Suzanne’s heart. She loved exploring the world, and her favorite way to travel was by cruise. Her and her husband took countless cruises all over the world, and would often take family members and friends along for the ride. Always an early riser, Suzanne would wake before her companions and break in the day with a quick 5 mile walk around the boat, as walking was a habit of hers that she took everywhere. Back at home, Suzanne also enjoyed visiting the casinos in her area, and quickly became a known player at the Blackjack tables. She was an avid player and could spend hours at the table. She became well known by the staff of these establishments and had a reputation for being so personable, friendly, and kind to anyone she met. This was something that could be said of her wherever she went; her kindness and friendliness meant that people were drawn to her and her bright personality.
And at the end of the day, Suzanne liked to go home, get comfy on the couch with her husband and catch the recent Mets game while relaxing with her dogs, Marge and Dora.
Though her passing brings us great sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that this beautiful soul is at peace. Now we look to those she leaves behind to carry on her memory. Suzanne’s survivors include her beloved husband, Steven Nyman, her children, Justine Nyman, Jared Nyman and his partner, Michelle, Jordan Nyman, her brothers, Robert Horowitz and his wife, Dr. Judith Price, Daniel Horowitz and his wife, Ofelia, her sister-in-law, Rhonda Landolfi and her husband, Chuck, her nieces and nephews, Brandon Horowitz (Katie), Casey Horowitz, Alexa Horowitz, Jessica Nehila (Keith), Matthew Landolfi, Andrew Landolfi (Carly), and a wealth of friends, neighbors, and colleagues who will remember her fondly. Please keep Suzanne’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
