Obituary of Bruce Allen Button II

Please share a memory of Bruce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Bruce Allen Button II (58 years old) passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Monday, June 12, 2023, following complications from cancer. Bruce was a loving father, grandfather, partner, brother, and friend to many.

Bruce was born in Dover, NJ and grew up in Randolph. He graduated from Randolph High School with honors in 1982, and was inducted into their sports Hall of Fame for his basketball excellence in the Fall of 2018. After high school, Bruce moved on to his college career at Villanova, where he completed his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and was an avid fan of their basketball team well beyond his graduation in 1988. After college he became a loyal employee to Howmet as an engineer for over 10 years.

Bruce loved spending his time playing golf and could have spent all day on the course. He enjoyed watching the NY Giants and NY Mets play, and when he wasn’t watching sports or Jeopardy! in his later years, his nose was in a good Stephen King novel. Bruce was also a music connoisseur, and he loved to keep up with current music or listen to his favorite artists like The Beatles, U2, Rush, Joe Jackson and Dave Matthews Band. He will be forever missed.

Bruce`s memory will live on through his son Bruce A. Button III and his wife Meaghan. His loving grandchildren, Julian and Emilia Button. His devoted partner for over 15 years Frances “Fran” Yanusauska and their cats. His brother Glenn and wife Janet Button. His sister Robbin and husband Ned Dolan. His early wife, Kathy Crowley-Sheehy. Bruce is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.

Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his parents Bruce and Jacqueline Button, his sister Jacqueline “Jill” Button, and his favorite puppy-pal, Rudy (“Rude-Dog”).

A public visitation to honor and celebrate Bruce will be held on Monday, June 19th, from 4:00PM to 8:00 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 20th at 10:00AM at St. Mary`s Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville.
