Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Richard Schwarz passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in Denville with his loving family by his side on Friday, March 17, 2023. He shared 75 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and priceless memories with family and friends.

Born in Irvington to the late Richard and Jeanne Schwarz, he was one of six children to bless their household. Richard and his family moved to Madison in the early 50’s, he graduated from Madison High School, Class of 1966. He proudly served our country in the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. During his time in the service, he earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. Upon his Honorable Discharge in 1971, Richard began work for Sandoz Pharmaceutical and then Bergen Brunswig Corporation.

He was a talented woodworker, having made countless pieces of furniture, among many other items for friends and relatives. He was an avid Yankees and NY Giants fan. Richard was a member of the Morris Plains VFW #3401 and the Denville American Legion #390. He was a sweet, caring, gentle, humble man that gave the greatest hugs. He enjoyed listening to oldies and spending time on his front porch. Endearingly nicknamed “the animal whisperer” Richard was able to hand feed outdoor animals, such as chipmunks, on a regular basis.

Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that Richard is now reunited with his parents Richard and Jeanne, his siblings Stephan, Janet (Simboli) and John, his sister-in-law Trish Schwarz and his granddaughter Aubrey Clark.

He leaves joyful memories to his beloved wife of nearly 33 years Sharon, his daughter Donna Rein and husband Richard, siblings Bill Schwarz and Peggy Krauss, his stepchildren Christina Clark and husband Randy, David Danielson and wife Jennifer, his grandchildren Nicholas and Cristina Rein, Ashley Paczesny and husband Matt, his great-grandchildren Chase, Aiden, and Madeleine.
