Obituary of Barbara Jones

Barbara Jones passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on March 16, 2023. Barbara was born on August 30, 1931 to George and Gwendolyn (Kinney) Bocchino in Dover, NJ where she lived and graduated from Dover High School.

 

She met the love of her life, David A. Jones, Jr. of Livingston, NJ and they were married on April 20, 1953.

 

She worked at International Paper Co. in Whippany, NJ from 1953 to 1957. She was a stay-at-home Mother until her children attended Morris Catholic High School, where she worked part time from 1972 until 1981. She was also employed at Knoll Pharmaceutical in Whippany from 1981 until 1995; and then Pomptonian Food Service in Parsippany from 1995 until 2001.

 

Her family was the most important part of her life, as she was always wanted to spend time with them. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. The decoration, shopping, and watching everyone open their gifts. The spirit of the Season brought her so much joy.

 

Her hobbies included knitting, puzzling, and reading. She also enjoyed family adventures and her feline friends, Odie, Betty, and Beau.

 

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, David, of 67 years; and her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Martha Bocchino.

 

She is survived by her children, Debra Egbert (Richard), Jacklyn Jones (Paul), David A. Jones III (Cheryl), Craig Jones (Stephanie), and Douglas Jones (Lori); 13 grandchildren, Emily Egbert, Jodi Crum, Jared Crum (Jamie), Joshua Crum (Ann Marie), Raechel Davidson (Jonathan), Taylor Jones (Shaun), Carissa Lambariello (James), Ryan, Brandon, Erin, and Justin Jones, Haley Bermudez (Jason), and Alexander Jones; step-granddaughters, Caroline and Rose Adams; great-grandchildren, Kaden and Dylan Crum, Bentley Egbert, and Luka Bermudez; and step-great-granddaughter, Emma Davidson.

 

One of Barbara’s lasts requests was for donations in lieu of flowers to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Community Hope for Veterans by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation.

 

Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23rd from 11 am – 1 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30 pm at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville.
