Obituary of Leonard W. Mestrandrea

Leonard “Lenny” Mestrandrea passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the age of 79. Lenny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed dearly.

Lenny was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. There he met the love if his life, Ann and they raised 3 wonderful children. Lenny received his Bachelor of Science from St. John’s University and then joined the Army and continued his service to our country with the National Guard. After the Army, he went to work at Kings County Hospital where he did clinical research. He subsequently worked for the FDA and got his Master of Science from Wagner College. After his career at the FDA, Lenny had a long and successful career as a Microbiologist and Quality Control expert in the pharmaceutical industry working for companies like Schering Plough, Novartis and Pfizer. Lenny also received his Ph D from Pacific Western University. He was a very active member of his industry being involved in organizations such as NJPQCA, USP Committee and the Parenteral Drug Association. Lenny also shared his passion for learning by becoming an adjunct professor at several colleges teaching in a nursing program.

Aside from his professional career, Lenny was an avid golfer and traveler. He loved his yearly trip with his friends to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. His favorite place was Hawaii and would take numerous trips with Anne, it was their special place.

Lenny’s legacy will live on through his loving wife Ann and his children and their spouses Mary (Joseph) Satili, Bill (Jessica Sarlin) Mestrandrea and Sarah (Tom) Concannon. Lenny leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Jacqueline, Laura, Lucia, Rose, Brian and Victoria. Lastly his faithful puppy Sophia.

Public Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 26th from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am Thursday, October 27th at Saint Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 70 Church St, Rockaway NJ.
