Obituary of Dave Stein

Please share a memory of Dave to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

David “Dave” Steven Stein passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. He had shared 66 years of priceless wisdom, timeless music, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Dave was born in Paterson, NJ and raised in Fair Lawn, NJ by the late Beatrice “Bea” (Bernstein) Kleinman. He graduated from Fair Lawn High School, Class of 1973 and from Rutgers University in 1977 with his Bachelor’s Degree. He met his best friend, Deb Dover, in 1983 through their mutual love for the Beatles. Dave and Deb walked this journey through this magical mystery we call life as best friends. Dave had an inquisitive brain and phenomenal memory when it came to music and celebrities. He could often be found burning DVDs of priceless, rare footage and tunes. He wasn’t spending all this time putting in the work for himself; he was taking the time to create everlasting memories for others. If there was a band you liked, or a movie you were interested in, Dave would find it for you and give you as many copies as you would like. Through this vocation, he was able to build a relationship with stars like Marlo Thomas and his favorite, Patty Duke. He would never turn down a Beatles fest, or a tune session with Pat Benatar or Boston.

Dave also had the gift of gab; he never met a stranger. He would often call to check in on loved ones and you always felt better after talking to him. Dave has left us with genuinely heartening memories that will last a lifetime. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his mom, Bea, and other family members who passed before him. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Deb; numerous loving furry family members at home; dear extended family and countless friends.

Graveside Service was held on Sunday, October 2nd at 1 pm at Riverside Cemetery, 12 Market Street, Saddle Brook, NJ. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 8th at 2 pm at The Crow's Nest, 309 Vincent Ave, Hackensack, NJ 07601. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Dave would be appreciated. Animal Allies Rescue Foundation (AARF) in Baltimore is a non-profit local animal rescue organization that helps both cats and dogs get off the streets, back to good health, and find forever homes. Deb has been fostering adult cats for AARF since the beginning of the pandemic and has found homes for 19 of them. Three of their own kitties have come from AARF so the organization is close to their hearts. You can make a donation by clicking here, or by mailing your check to Animal Allies Rescue FoundationP.O.
