Obituary of Nancy Stone

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nancy was born on February 28, 1931 in Rochester, NY to Leon and Anne Ludeck.

She was married to Richard J. Stone in Kenmore, NY on September 19, 1953. She graduated from Green Mountain College and served many years on their alumni board.  Her greatest joy was that of being a wife and mother to her four children.  Nancy supported all her children’s many activities and sports – always in attendance to cheer and volunteer to help.  She worked at The Wilson School as a therapist and private tutor and was also a Sunday school teacher and was active on many committees at the Community Church of Mountain Lakes.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Richard Stone, 91, daughters Sue Stone Clark (Mike Clark, children – Kevin, Daniel, Amy & Colleen); Kathy Stone Pitt (Gordon Pitt, children David, Gavin); Mike Stone (Maureen Stone); and Andy Stone (Trish Stone, children Ben, Hannah).  She was also proud to be a great grandmother to five.

Nancy loved bowling – Thursday nights at the Boonton Lanes where she was famous for her left hook.  She loved golf and was always consistent with her 100 yard, perfectly straight golf drives.  She also enjoyed multiple bridge groups.  Her favorite hobby was knitting and crocheting sweaters, hats, scarves, socks, and washcloths for family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11 AM at the Community Church. A  repast luncheon will follow at the Mountain Lakes Club. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Community Church of Mountain Lakes in Nancy’s honor at comchurchmtlakes.org
