Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Williams
Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Williams passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with breast cancer on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Phillipsburg. She had shared 57 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and priceless experiences with family and friends.
Born in Suffern, NY to Elizabeth Ann and the late Gerald Thompson, Sr., she was one of eight children to bless the Thompson/Willis household. After graduating from Glen Rock High School, she received her diploma in Computer Operations from Dover Business College. Liz was a hard and dedicated worker. She began her career with AIG in Livingston in 2004 as their Tape Librarian eventually becoming the Lead Librarian. She was also an amazing cook, most notably known for her irreplaceable buffalo wings. A talented gardener of plants, flowers and veggies, her homemade meals were always made with TLC and homegrown vegetables. Liz was also a gifted crocheter, making useful coasters, comfy slippers, beautiful blankets, and more – many of which were made to be given to those that were special in her life.
This outdoorswoman had an unrivaled zest for life. She loved all types of music and had no qualms about blasting her favorite songs, whether it was country, classic rock, or pop, and singing and dancing along like no one was watching. She was a volunteer at both Habitat for Humanity and the Food Pantry, both near Belvidere. Liz married the love of her life, Thomas Williams on April 28, 2011; unfortunately, their time together was shortened when his battle with cancer ended in 2012.
To say that Liz was extraordinary, humble, kind, compassionate, generous, and thoughtful would be an understatement. If you had the privilege of meeting Liz, you know that your life is forever changed for the better. She was the definition of a true friend and we will be perpetually grateful for having had her in our lives. She was always the life of the party with her unique sense of humor; being the consummate "girlie ann" of all girlies. Please do not forget to share your recollections, tell her story, and laugh at the good times. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her soulmate and late husband, Thomas Williams, her father, her brother Jerry and the many fur babies, or kitties, that she was Mom to.
She leaves only joyful memories to her adored Mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Willis; her treasured siblings Daniel Thompson and his wife Christine, William Thompson, John Willis IV, Christopher Berghout and his wife Jaime, Samantha Willis, and Joey Willis; her cherished nieces and nephews, Michael Thompson and his fiancé Sally Bull, Kelsey Therrien and her husband Mack, Michael, John, and Madeline Willis; beloved friends Debbie, Caresse, and Brenda, as well as many extended family members especially those on her late husband's side in which she remained in close contact.
