Obituary of Elizabeth M. Crothers

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Elizabeth M. Crothers passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 30, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. She shared 65 years of unconditional love, laughter and amazing memories with family and friends.

Born and raised in Denville to the late Richard and Barbara Grimes, she was one of four children to bless the Grimes household. As a child, she grew up with a love for animals, especially dogs and horses raising and showing both in her early years. Before her junior year in high school she relocated to Florida until 1981 when she returned to NJ. She attended a bowling banquet with her sister Barbara where she was reunited with a previous childhood classmate Robert “Bobby” Crothers who became the love of her life. Elizabeth’s love of animals remained clear in her years working at Community Animal Hospital in Morris Plains before retiring to become a full-time caregiver for family members.

A natural born mother and homemaker, you could rely on her for honest advice, a warm hug and a shoulder to cry on or a laugh with her contagious sense of humor. She truly was a one-of-a-kind wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend. Elizabeth will be sorely missed and forever treasured in our hearts and memories. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her parents and we all have the greatest guardian angel looking out for us.

She leaves only joyful memories with her beloved husband of 38 years, Bobby; her adored son, Michael Lowrie and his wife Vicki; her step-daughters Jessie and Mandy; her cherished grandson, Patrick; her step-grandchildren, Dylan and Gavin; her caring siblings, Barbara and her husband Jim, brother James “Jimmy” Grimes and his wife Donna; and brother Richard “Ricky” Grimes and his wife Sharon; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family and friends.
