Obituary of Marie J. Williams

Marie J. Williams, age 84 died peacefully on Tuesday, January 8th at St. Clare's Hospital, Denville, NJ surrounded by her family. Born to Anna Gannon and Edward Gottorf in NYC on June 23, 1928, raised in Astoria Queens, lost her only brother Edward Jr., at the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. She worked for the Monsanto Corporation and Union Carbide before marrying and raising six children. She then worked for the Sussex County Board of Education and helped other families raise their children in her later years. Marie is survived by her loving children, Barbara Welles (Jonathan) of Denville, Daniel Williams (Lucie) of Rockaway, Bryan Williams of Boonton, Susan Fitzgerald of New York City, Douglas Williams (Jackie) of Cedar Knolls, and Amy Hamilton of New York City, and cherished grandchildren, Eva, Matthew, and Brandon. She was also the loving "Nana" of Natalie, Jacob and Ian.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marie’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
