Caroline Louis Olson, endearingly known as “Nona” to most, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. She was 86 years young. Private services were held under the direction of the Norman Dean Home For Services. Memorial donations in her name are welcome to be forwarded to the good work of St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105. Please share memories with our family by clicking the tab below. Born in Emerson, NJ to the late Raul and Elizabeth Colon, Caroline was one of four children. She had three brothers whom surrounded her with love and protection as she grew. After her schooling; she began a longtime career with the NY Bell Telephone Co. After many years, she retired from what we now know as Verizon. She raised her family of three as a single mother. Hard working, determined, proud and loving. Her ambition, integrity and regard and love for her family were evident to all who knew her. She always had a large group of friends and enjoyed their company. Traveling to the casino, trying her luck on the penny slots, enjoying a challenging crossword, sipping on a Rob Roy and cheering on her beloved NY Mets- well, these were just some of her hobbies. Above all though, her greatest joy was being Nona. She was the proud Nona to all of her grandchildren, and many more who knew her as Nona. Predeceased by her brothers Raul, George and Robert; she leaves happy memories to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many more loving relatives, friends and acquaintances.
