Walter Lindsley, age 88 of Morris Plains, formerly of Fairview, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 at Morris View Nursing home in Morris Plains. Born February 1, 1922, he was the son of the late Paul and Alma (Jauchen) Lindsley. He had owned an appliance store in Bloomfield before becoming a salesman with Sears. Walter served as an Aviationist First Class in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, and Air Medal from then Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal for "heroic and extra achievement in aerial bombing campaigns. He preceded in death by his wife Edith (Porcelli); and several brothers and sisters, including his brother Raymond, who passed away two weeks earlier. He is survived by his children, Wally and wife Lorena of Fairview, Arlene Liguori and husband Mike of Byram Twp, and Ken and wife Victoria of Livingston; and 7 grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, June 10, at 10:00 am at Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Friends may visit from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday.
