Vilda D. "Mimi"Vitaletti, 88, died on Easter Sunday April 4, 2010 surrounded by her family at St Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ. She was born in France but grew up in Siena, Italy, before moving to Rome during WWII. There she met her husband Roland D. Vitaletti whom she married in a Chapel in St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. They moved to the US settling in Dunmore, PA later moving to Wharton NJ and finally to Denville in 1959. While living in Italy she was a beautician and manicurist. When she came to the states, she devoted her life to being a wife, a mother and a homemaker. In addition to raising five children of her own, she played an active role caring for her grandchildren who affectionately call her Nonna. Her grandchildren have memories of Nonna teaching them how to ride a bike, teaching them her special recipes, going for walks into town, sitting on her lap just watching television and pinning boutineers on prom dates. Nonna loved animals and made a home for several pets including her dog Flora, and her cats Misty and Moo. Nonna enjoyed sitting in the sun, going to the beaches from New Jersey to North Carolina, relaxing on her porch, reading books and magazines, knitting and crocheting, taking care of her plants and feeding her birds. Nonna loved attending mass at St. Mary's church followed by China Buffet with her daughter Denise. Music was a significant part of her life and Nonna certainly had an eclectic taste in music. She enjoyed listening to opera, Broadway show tunes and musicians like, Bruce Springsteen, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and Andrea Boccelli, just to name a few. Nonna's house was home for each of her family members and extended family of friends and loved ones. Everyone who knew Nonna knew to bring her a magnet from their travels for her collection on her refrigerator. The family gathered at Nonna's home for holidays and special family events where they would be greeted by the delicious aromas from Nonna's cooking (especially her spaghetti and meatballs). She is predeceased by her husband Roland, and her grandson Anthony Vitale. She is survived by her daughters Adrienne Mosley and her husband George of Byram, Denise Ward of Denville, Marcella Vitaletti of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Patricia LeoGrande and her husband Paul of Dover and her son Paul Vitaletti and his wife Marjane of Stroudsburg, Pa.
