Glenn K Jamieson posted a condolence

Through the course of ones life, we meet thousands of people, and some stand out. Jim was one of those kinds of people for me. He was smart, articulate, very talented, and had incredible range in his ability to consider everything, anything and anyone who came before him. But added to all of his wonderful qualities was the most important and significant attribute of all; Jim McCloskey was a Good Man.
Jim being the good man he was, made me want to be a good man too. Please accept my sincere condolences and know that I will be sending his family good thoughts for the rest of my life.
Regards,
Glenn K Jamieson

Some Special Memories to share of how Jim Loved his Family.
After working with Jim for several years, we bacame close friends as well. I remember Jim telling me "Alison you really should get married and have a family. FAMILY/KIDS There is nothing like it, he would say. He would tell me, when you have kids you instantly, unconditionally fall head over heals in love! This happens each time- it never gets old he would say. (although I do remember he told me with a laugh, he did not do diapers)
I remember jim would tell me before he pulled out of his driveway to come to work a ritual he had was to look under and behind his car just to be certain no kids were playing. He would tell me it would drive him crazy to think if anything were to happen to them.
I remember Jim telling me about one of his Christmas shopping experiences. He went to the mall to buy some gifts for Diana at Ann Taylor. (he took a couple of the kids) He said let me tell you, if you ever want attention stop for lunch at the mall with your kids with bags of woman's clothing. (laugh) He said people just kept coming up to him and talking. What's the fuss he
said?? THE FUSS WAS JIM (They were all admiring his MAGICAL way with his children and his thoughtfulness for his wife)
Jim was a GIFT that touched so many of us. I am very thankful I was one. Alison
To all of Jims Family - My thoughts and Prayers are with you all.
God Bless

The past few days I have been thinking of in the end who my brother was, how would I describe him to someone not fortunate enough to have known him... My brother was a creator. His life was about creating wonders. He is one of the only people I know that could look at a barren piece of land or pile of rocks and create beauty. He created parks, playgrounds and a playing field where he coached his children. He created gardens and walls that will provide endless glory to the earth. He created friendships with all he met. He created beliefs and importance of issues as a council man in the town he loved. He created a love between himself, my brother, sisters and I. He created a bond with my parents as a loving son. But most of all he created four wonderful children, JP, Rory, Kara and Conor. It is for his children he created himself into the man he was and they were his purpose to live. Without them he had no reason to create. So now in the end, we thank him for all his creations. We will cherish them and go forward to create our memories of this wonderful man, my brother Jim.

Dear Diana, children and family,
We are shocked and saddened to hear about Jimmy. We are so sorry for your loss and send our heartfelt condolences to you at this very difficult time.
I hold many fond memories of Jimmy from my teenage years, when I hung with his sister Ann. I remember being over the house with the whole group, and Jimmy was there, "the older brother"...He would keep us in line, while letting us watch him get out of it, in the cabin in the woods... Fun times. Then when I moved back to Jersey, we met up again as adults, with children of our own. We spent many a day on the same soccer fields with the traveling team that Rory and Paulie played together on. Then there were the parties that Lori would throw every year, and we would run into each other. I was looking for you both this year and saddened that I did not see you both... Jimmy always had a smile on his face, a kind word, a good laugh... He was one of the good guys, and he will be missed. I am so sorry to hear of his passing; the world has lost another good soul. Rest In Peace Jimmy.

There really are no words adequate to describe what a wonderful man Mr. M was. I can not remember a single time that I ran into him where he didn't take the time to talk to me, ask what I was up to, etc. He was the kind of genuine, warm, dedicated man who made Denville a wonderful place to grow up. He will be greatly missed!
McCloskey family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers-please take heart in knowing that you have a whole community standing behind you at this very difficult time-we're here for you.
With love,
Amanda Schreiner

Dear McCloskey Family,
I will always remember Jimmy's laugh... I'm praying for all of you. Love, Janene
I'm still here friend, please don't mourn for me I'm still here, though you don't see. I'm right by your side each night and day and within your heart I long to stay. My body is gone but I'm always near. I'm everything you feel, see or hear. My spirit is free, but I'll never depart as long as you keep me alive in your heart. I'll never wander out of your sight- I'm the brightest star on a summer night. I'll never be beyond your reach- I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach. I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around and the pure white snow that blankets the ground. I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond, The clear cool water in a quiet pond. I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring, The first warm raindrop that April will bring. I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine, and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine. When you start thinking there's no one to love you, you can talk to me through the Lord above you. I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees, and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze. I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep. I'm the smile you see on a baby's face. Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

Dear McClosky family, it is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to a truly gentle giant of a man.We are so very sorry for your loss. Men like him are few and far between. We "lifers" often see someone we know running about town and yell hey, how are ya as we keep on trucking, but Jim would actually stop, give you a great handshake, ask how everybody's doing, and be interested in your answers. Sometimes we think there is not enough time in the day for small gestures such as that, but we should all strive to be a little more like him. Denville's loss is Heavens gain, though.

McCloskey Family,
The memories are too numerous to highlight. Denville has lost yet another key contributor to making a great place to live and raise children. Only the Denville lifers truely understand what Jim meant to the town. What he recieved over the years he gave back 10 fold. A great son, brother, father, husband, friend. I am sure that Bob Cuirzak, and Joe McElroy were waiting in heavan with open arms to welcome Jim to heaven.
