Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, New Jersey 07834 (973) 627-1880 Daily Record 1x Wednesday Neighbor News Dominick Vincent Salvatore, 80, passed away on Tuesday September 29, 2009 at home after a short illness. He was the son of the late Rocco and Helen Salvatore and the cherished son-in-law of the late Alfred and Violet Keating. Dominick was born in New York but spent most of his life in New Jersey and considered Denville his hometown. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korean War, earning medals for the time he spent there. Dominick had diverse occupational interests through out the years. He was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service. He owned his own businesses, Rent-a-Maid for a number of years and a stationery store in Butler in the 1960’s. He was a district advisor at the Daily Record for many years, a machine operator at Landice Machine Co. and Hooke Machine Company. His last endeavor was after his retirement, coordinating a Meals on Wheels program in South Jersey, prior to moving back to North Jersey to be closer to his children. Dominick was an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed bantering with his older son, a devout Mets fan. He spent many years coaching his sons in little league and soccer. He enjoyed camping with his family. He was a lover of animals and had many pets throughout his lifetime. Dominick was the type of person to stop and chat with those he met in the store or in the park. He looked forward each Saturday morning to watch his grandson bowl in his league. He took an interest in everyone and everything. Dominick’s passion was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Blossom (Jehle), his daughter Donna and her companion Russell Perkins of Hawthorne, his son Alfred and daughter-in-law Carla of Georgia, His daughter Susan and her fiancé Jack Corderio of Hackettstown, his son, Nicholas and his companion Theresa Jandreau of Florida, his adored grandson Dylan Stalter and granddaughters Tina and Ava Salvatore. He will be missed greatly by his dog, Molly. Dominick’s funeral services will be conducted at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Dominick on web site), on Friday Oct. 2nd at 10:00am, interment and committal services will follow at at Denville Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the NJ Center for Tourettes Syndrome and Associated Disorders or the Compassionate Care Hospice, Sparta, NJ
