Lucille Hazzard Lawrence died peacefully at Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth, Pennsylvania Friday evening July 3, 2009. She was 97 She was born 07 Nov. 1911 in Ridgewood New Jersey, the daughter of Irving Osborn Hazzard and Adelaide May Reeves from Brooklyn, New York. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers Richard Mortimer Hazzard of Bergen County, and Donald Reeves Hazzard of California. Mrs. Lawrence graduated in 1929 from Ridgewood High School. She worked in corporate finance in the insurance industry in New York until her marriage to John William Bowden Lawrence in 1939. She lived in the Allwood Section of Clifton prior to moving to Green Pond in Morris County New Jersey in 1964. A long time resident, she moved to Heath Village in Hackettstown in 1995, after the death of her husband, John. In addition raising a family of two daughters, she was active in the community, serving as President of the Allwood Woman's Club and director of the Sunday School for the Allwood Community Church. She was also President of the Green Pond Womans Club. She was most proud of being instrumental in bringing the Blood Bank program to the Green Pond community. Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Lawrence Hope and her husband Richard Hope of Forks Township, Pa.; Jane E. Lawrence Williams and her husband Peter Williams of Harding Township and Green Pond, NJ; three grandchildren: Gayle Walker-Cillo of Bridgewater, New Jersey; Susan Walker-Gomez of Rochelle Park, New Jersey; and Alexander Willams of Harding Township; and two great grandchildren: Anthony Cillo and Emma Gomez. Private funeral arrangements are by the Norman Dean Funeral Home of Denville, New Jersey.
