Thomas Murray

Obituary of Thomas G. Murray

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Thomas G. Murray, who passed away on March 1st, 2024. Thomas was a remarkable man who will be dearly missed by all.

Thomas was born to Thomas and Elizabeth Murray in December of 1942 in Brooklyn, New York. In 1947, the Murray family, including Thomas and his three sisters, made the move to

Boonton, New Jersey. It was here that Thomas was enrolled in kindergarten where he became friends with Dorothy D’Andrea. In the years to come, this friendship would blossom into

something more, and in April of 1962, Dorothy took Thomas’ last name, and the pair have been inseparable ever since. They shared over 60 years of marriage together, and brought 4 beautiful children into the world along the way. Thomas was a family man, and did everything he could to provide for his loved ones. He had a career as a production manager for a fragrance and flavoring company located in Boonton and worked tirelessly up until his retirement, only a year before his passing. He reveled in spending time with his children, and was overjoyed when he was blessed with grand and great grandchildren. Even to folks outside of his family, Thomas was always kind and caring; constantly lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

During his free time, Thomas was an avid outdoorsman. He took many fishing trips where he would catch everything; salt water, fresh water, trout, salmon, you name it! He also had a passion for hunting and made use of an array of tools, including shotguns and bows & arrows. His trips took him all over, but he especially enjoyed his times in Kentucky, Wyoming, and Lake Ontario. Thomas had a grip on life that brought him and many others on memorable adventures, and in every venture, Thomas was able to find the fun.

Although Thomas has passed on from this life, we take comfort in knowing that he is reunited once more with those who passed before him; his grandson, Jimmy Iannielli IV, his son- in-law, James Iannielli III, his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Murray, and his sister, Barbara Nathan. It is now that we look to those he leaves behind to carry on his memory of care and kindness; his beloved wife, Dorothy Murray, his dear children, Tom Murray (Sandie), Beth Cassidy (Bob), Dotty Iannielli, Michael Murray (Erin), his grandchildren, Thomas, Travis, Tyler, Colin, Bryce, Kevin (Ashley), Brian, Jamie (Greg), Jenna (Lauren), Katie, his great grandchildren, Chase, Avery, Luke, Maddie, his sisters, Katherine Gruener, Marion Murray Dorsey, as well as a wealth of family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors that will miss him dearly.

If you would like to contribute to Thomas’ memory in your own way, please consider making a charitable contribution to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; an organization that Thomas and Dorothy were passionate about. Donations can be made via inmemof.org.

A memorial visitation for Thomas is scheduled for Saturday, March 9th, from 10 AM to 1 PM, with a prayer service to begin at 12:30 PM, held at Norman Dean Home for Services. Please leave a condolence, share a memory, or light a candle to continue to let Thomas’ light shine!
