Obituary of Veronica Sefchick

Veronica Sefchick, 87, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She lived a life filled with love, dedication, friendship, and cherished memories that will remain with all who knew her.

Veronica was born to Damiano and Rose Bua in Jersey City, NJ, on July 24, 1939. She was raised in Clifton alongside her four siblings and graduated from Clifton High School. After high school, Veronica continued her education at Hunter College.  She was introduced to her husband, William Sefchick by her brother.  Together, they shared decades of love and built a home and family rooted in devotion, laughter, and unwavering dedication to one another.

The family eventually settled in Rockaway, where Veronica became an active and beloved member of the community. Over the years, she held many jobs, but she spent many fulfilling years working for the Rockaway Township Board of Education. She was also a longtime member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church.

Veronica believed in keeping both her body and spirit active. She loved working out and frequently attended yoga and cycling classes. She also treasured time spent with friends, especially when it meant gathering together for a good dinner and even better conversation.

Above all else, Veronica's greatest joy was her family. She was blessed with four grandchildren, and she delighted in spending time with them, creating memories that they will carry with them throughout their lives.

Veronica is survived by her beloved children; Chrisann Furciato, Glen Sefchick (Suzy), her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas & Andrew Furciato, Connor & Sophia Sefchick, as well as a wealth of friends and neighbors who will remember her fondly. Veronica is now reunited with her dear husband, William Sefchick, as well as her parents, Damiano & Rose Bua, and her siblings, Chuck, Cosmo, Mary, and Lee.

A Funeral Mass for Veronica will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10 AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Rockaway. All are welcome to come and celebrate the life of this incredible woman!
