Obituary of James E. Allen, Jr.
James E. Allen, Jr. passed away on August 4, 2026, at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ, at the age of 57.
Born on March 20, 1969, in Denville, New Jersey, James was raised in Rockaway, where he graduated from Morris Hills High School as a member of the Class of 1987. He enjoyed an active childhood filled with adventure, spending warm days riding his four-wheeler and making the most of winter on his snowmobile. James was also a member of the Rockaway Sports Club, where he looked forward to field days, holiday celebrations, and the many community events that brought family and friends together.
James found his calling as a clerk at the ShopRite in Wharton, where he dedicated more than 20 years of faithful service. He took great pride in his work and valued the friendships he made throughout his career, becoming a familiar and welcoming face to countless customers and coworkers.
Family was at the center of James's life. Some of his happiest memories were made during family vacations to Ocean City, Maryland, where days spent on the beach, the boardwalk, and simply enjoying each other's company became cherished traditions. James was a faithful member of the Denville Community Methodist Church, where he worshipped alongside his family and found comfort in his faith. He was also a devoted Elvis Presley fan whose collection of Elvis memorabilia reflected his lifelong admiration for the King of Rock and Roll.
James’ memory is now carried on by those who loved him. James is survived by his mother, Patricia Allen, his brother, Chad Allen (Stephanie), his nieces, Sydney & Avery Allen, and his cousins, Carolyn Riccio Saposnik (Steve), Jamie Riccio Lundquist (Brian), Candace Riccio Snipes (Chris), Lily Anne Snipes, as well as many others who will remember him fondly.
