Obituary of Richard L. Scerbo
Richard L. "Richie" Scerbo passed away peacefully at Morristown Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born in Morristown, New Jersey, to the late Francis and Adelaide (Pizzi) Scerbo, Richie grew up and remained in Morris Plains, NJ most of his life.
Following his graduation from Delbarton High School, Richie earned his bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University. He went on to enjoy a long and successful career in the automobile industry, working alongside his family for many years at Scerbo Buick in Boonton, New Jersey.
Richie had a lifelong passion for antique automobiles and was an avid collector and is a member of the Drag Racer Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed motorsports and was a devoted fan of the New York Giants. He will be remembered for his love of family, his enthusiasm for classic cars, and the many friendships he made throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Richie was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas J. Scerbo and Frank Scerbo Jr., and by his beloved grandson, Tyler Richard Scerbo.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Edith A. (Bengel) Scerbo; his loving son, Drew Scerbo; his cherished grandson, Kyle; his niece, Stephanie, and her husband, John Iacopelli; and his faithful dogs, Eddy and Dolly, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. www.normandean.com.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
