Obituary of Lorraine Joann Hrobuchak

Lorraine Joann (Luther) Hrobuchak passed away peacefully at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, New Jersey, on June 26, 2026.

Born in Manhattan, New York, to Henry E. and Frances (Carr) Luther, Lorraine moved with her family to the White Meadow Lake section of Rockaway Township, New Jersey, at the age of seven. She attended the Rockaway Township public schools before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Montclair State College.

After graduating, Lorraine returned to Morris Hills High School as an English teacher and yearbook advisor. It was there that she met the love of her life and future husband, George, as they began their teaching careers together. Throughout her distinguished career, Lorraine taught English at both Morris Hills and Morris Knolls High Schools, where she inspired generations of students through her passion for literature and learning. She was honored as Teacher of the Year, produced award-winning yearbooks, and became widely respected as a master teacher. As an Advanced Placement English consultant and mentor, she guided and encouraged countless fellow educators throughout their careers.

Lorraine's dedication to her community extended well beyond the classroom. She served for ten years on the Denville Library Board, was President of the Riverview PTA,  and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary International Foundation in recognition of her service.

An avid reader throughout her life, Lorraine also had a deep love for animals. Above all else, however, she cherished her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her grandchildren, whose lives she enriched through her unwavering love, guidance, and devotion.

Lorraine is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, George P. Hrobuchak of Denville; her loving children, Jodi Grillo and her husband, Tony, of Rockaway, and Darren Hrobuchak and his wife, Jennifer, of Parsippany. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jillian Faith Grillo, Zachary George Hrobuchak, and Mallory Skylar Hrobuchak; her sister, Sharon Toriello, and her husband, Anthony; her nephews, Troy Toriello and Todd Toriello and his wife, Jen; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Shalin, Brayden, Jacob, Jackson, and Noah.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. www.normandean.com.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. Interment will follow at Denville Cemetery.

Lorraine's kindness, wisdom, generosity, and love of learning touched countless lives. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored, the students she inspired, the educators she mentored, and the community she faithfully served. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
